Am I Wrong?

Aren't universal background checks de facto gun registration?

  1. Yes - and as Wayne LaPierre keeps pointing out (apparently to no avail) criminals will NOT comply with background checks because - DUH -they are already criminals. The only folks who 'might' (how well did the long gun registry work in Canada?) comply are the already law abiding Citizens and we are NOT the problem. Neither are the guns, it is plain and simply the criminals.

  2. And your local ffl will gladly run the check for a nominal fee, which will most likely have to be paid by the seller. I mean the gun is worth x number of dollars and if you add 50 for the background check I bet that it will just come off of the top. a single shot shotgun you will almost have to give away.

  3. IF, and that's a big if, the background check system doesn't retain a record of the transaction, it's not registration. Shite, if I was selling a gun to someone I didn't know too well, I'd love to be able to take their ID, call in, make sure they're not f'd up and we have a clean sale.

    But, ATF form 4473 is.
