When your gun runs dry and you drop the empty mag and throw in a full one the consensus seems to be to rack the slide to get back in the fight. Here is an article that says that it's okay not to use the 'slingshot method', if it works for you use the slide release lever.
I'll let Sig Fiend explain it.http://www.dillodynamics.com/handgun-manipulation-methods/
I've always used the release lever, but then I use/carry guns with much larger ones than a glock's.
ReplyDeleteTo me it get's the weapon back into battery faster without the possibility of sweeping your hand in front of the muzzle, indeed most of the time my off hand is back on the grip by the time I release the slide.
Just my $0.02 worth.
I used to carry a Kimber (pretty big slide release) but now I carry an XDM. This article really makes me want to practice my mag changes more.
