It had to be hard to give that one up. I have always wanted a decent 1911, but every time I get close in my savings, I wind up finding a deal on cases of ammo, or a reloading press, or a .357 or...
This thing was shit when I bought it used but it taught me a lot about working on 1911s. A new recoil spring from Wolff and mags from Checkmate and Tripp research made a world of difference. Later on I had to do some other work too, like installing oversized grip bushings and a new Wilson trigger (the bow was bent on the original). The flush cut and crown on the barrel was because I thought it would look cool.
So sad.
